Ms. Jacobson

Welcome to
2nd Grade!

Hi! My name is Ms. Jacobson and this is my second year teaching 2nd grade at Wildflower.  I love 2nd grade!  Previously, I taught 1st grade for 8 years.  I have degrees in psychology and elementary education, as well as a master’s degree in bilingual education.  I am certified to teach elementary education, early childhood (preK-3) education, and bilingual education.

In 2nd grade we build upon what was learned in 1st grade to really become reading detectives.  We don’t just read for fun (though we definitely do read for fun every day.)  We also read to learn.  We delve deep into the texts that we read to really understand what the text is about, and how it relates to other texts, the outside world, and ourselves!  In math we further develop what was learned in 1st grade to solve more complex equations and word problems.  We also learn about shapes, measurement, time, and fractions.  In writing we write longer pieces with more details.  We start off writing in the narrative style, but later in the year we write science lab reports, and even our own non-fiction informational books!

2nd grade is such an exciting and fun year, full of developmental and academic growth! If you ever have any questions, just send me an email at and I will respond as quickly as I am able.
